Originally from Grand Blanc, Michigan, Dr. Kval completed his undergraduate studies at University of Michigan prior to studying medicine at Michigan State University – College of Osteopathic Medicine. In July of 1999, he completed a Family Practice residency at Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Following graduation, Dr. Kval began practicing medicine in Flint, Michigan, honing his techniques in a list of office procedures including obstetrics and gynecology. He also served as an assistant clinical professor instructing resident physicians and medical students for MSU. In January of 2002, he was recruited to the Jackson, Michigan area by Foote Memorial Hospital and began working at Mid-Michigan Health Centers. Dr. Kval became in integral component of building that practice and leading its expansion into the neighboring community of Michigan Center. Between a busy office and hospital practice, Dr. Kval also found time to serve as Vice chair of the Family Practice Department at Foote Hospital and worked on several published research studies with topics including Diabetes and Interstitial Cystitis. Although successful in this location Dr. Kval has relocated to the Spring Lake area in order to join practices with his long time friend Dr. Stempky. The two doctors attended medical school together and their families have grown close over the past ten years. Dr. Kval is married to Tanya, and has two children: Keaton and Karston. On his spare time he enjoys reading and spending time with his family. He stays active by jogging, playing league soccer, golfing, SCUBA diving and skiing.
